5 Bathroom Makeover Ideas

Many times the bathroom is an overlooked room in the home when it comes to remodelling. We are inclined to view it as more of a functional space in the home, despite the truth that we spend much of our time there. Why not set aside a few hours to turn your bathroom into a relaxing and welcoming retreat for yourself and your visitors, without dropping a huge amount of cash.

Here are a few ideas you can try:

1. Paint the entire room, and that includes the ceiling, a deep, full color. Even though this is by and large a small room, a deep color on the walls allows them to fade away, and at the same time makes the room cozy and seem bigger than its actual size.

2. Eliminate the clutter! If you can’t get most of the shaving supplies and hair brushes, combs and toothbrushes beneath the sink, collect a few bins from the discount store and organize them that way. Make sure to have a hamper. Should you be limited as to room, make use of the sort that hangs up on the back of the door. A full-sized drawstring bag would be appropriate for this purpose as well. Also, a nice looking bronze toilet paper stand makes both a useful and appealing addition as well.

Bathroom Decorating3. Decorate that large frameless mirror. Hang ribbons of fabric from cup hooks to cover and soften the edges of the mirror, and to provide a frame. Or actually get cut lengths of 1×4 wood strips, and glue them to the wall over the edges of the mirror to simulate an actual wood frame. You can paint or stain them as well to match your cabinets.

4. While we are speaking of cabinets, why not give them a quick makeover? Paint them a dark color for a polished look, or white with sponge painting for a country motif. Try several of the favorite faux finishes. You can even paint the Formica countertops. Be sure to clean thoroughly and use the right primer first such as BIN or KILZ. Then seal with around 5 layers of polyurethane when the paint dries. This should hold up for a long time!

5. Lastly, add some detail to the bathroom. Again, the proper toilet paper stands can be excellent for this purpose. Other creative ideas include stitching fabric edging to your towels, employing a shell as a soap dish, and stitching up an attractive shower curtain to cover your plastic one. Additionally, you can put up some eye catching photographs or pictures on the wall in low-budget frames. One more thing, provide a a couple of plants if you have a decent amount of sunlight. That can really enhance any room as it lends a classy finishing touch, yet without costing too much money.
